I dont think there will be too much environmental opposition to the drill. Effects on Whale migration has been raised as an issue but the seismic was probably potentially the most 'damaging' to the whales and that has been done.
Being a gas well it does not have the same potential environmental 'spill' issues.
I really cannot see it being stopped by govt on environmental issues. yes there will be opposition but as long as 'laws' are complied with I dont see it being stopped.
Dont forget this is a legitimate exploration permit with millions having been spent already by this JV on seismic and evaluation. Stopping a drill would throw into doubt the process of exploration and every other PEP.
