There are people management skills which rely on integrity, honesty and respect; then there is the border. It all depends on character.

I am not a religious person but much can be learnt from the scriptures. I thought the caricature of the ‘wingman’ was quite appropriate. Some might say delusional but be that as it may.

Respect is something earnt they say. Well @LongPier and @roaminoz you had mine. When the void was left by Lokki, I asked before I stepped up to the plate – respect. Whenever I opened I was asked by LP. I was happy to be his wingman. Once again – respect.

I was taken aback when LP said ‘Does anyone want to open?’ A harmless question in itself I guess, but hurtful none the less. Then for R to emerge from behind the scenes with another ‘Average Joe’ mindset, well that just blew my mind.

So there you have it. I was happy to do it and happy to walk away. But I wasn’t too impressed with the messaging or dismissal; probably typical of the employer relationships of today.

Now this was quite easily achieved it seems with no plan. Others would step up. It appears there are hoards waiting in the wings to fill this role. So why not show a little respect and put it out there?

Anyway we progress to the actual deed and I indicated there might be some problems. @poyndexter offers his wise counsel and I gave him the ‘nod’ he requested. So what does he do, nominates me to open - the very person who was ‘asked’ not to open.

I know this is all ‘snowflake’ stuff but one really needs to understand what ‘empathy’ entails.

We all have life experiences, none of which are fully disclosed in an open forum like this BUT………….. It’s not hard to respect the institution of community!
