Hi Joanne, I suggest you find a friend who you can bounce these questions off as in my experience with answering questions about trading it is much easier done in person or over the phone. You clearly are new to trading and although there may be people willing to help out here to answer your questions I don't really feel this is the platform for your intermediate questions, I could be wrong, just my opinion. I was self taught over time, if you watch the market and what is going on you will pick it up, read up as much as you can.
To answer your question you can only buy at the price someone is willing to sell to you. If you wanted to put in a bid under the current market price you can do so by all means, if the share price drops to this price then yes your order will get filled.
