Aftermarket trades/matchup are the large Insto orders that would move the market significantly if placed during normal trading hours. Nothing underhand.
Today's 1830509 shares if placed in the market during normal trading hours could artificially move the market (up or down).
By using the mechanism of large matchups following the normal trading period the market can operate normally but also end with a final market price taking into account all trading for the day.
