Pulled a similar stunt myself , thought about getting in Tues after announcement -but didn't want to hold overnight (macro reasons). Bought the open on Wed at $6 and sold at $6.65.
Major downside of not holding throughout is that you will get minimal gains (like when it gaps up on a good ann), but flip side is you are not exposed to major drops.
In the current market I prefer not holding overnight, but if you are long on the stock you should be fine -cheers.
