The problem is, a lot of people didn't buy from the prospectus - such as myself. If you have a look at a variety of ASX announcements, including those by banks and institutes, the original letter to shareholders, early media releases and online brokers such as Commsec, there is no mention of these shares being:
a) partly paid OR
b) owing further money
It isn't until late in the game that Brisconnections have started a campaign to let everyone know.

On top of this Macquarie Bank were recommending a buy on it whilst they sold down their shareholding.! The whole thing smells, and unfortunately I have it all over my hands at this point!
