Interesting comments from Dyson this week on their failed bid to join EV manufacturers - every EV being sold worldwide is at a loss at the moment. They couldn't get the battery cost down having planned solid state batteries to be already here - so folded the project.

Getting the battery costs down is the key. The biggest material cost to a battery is surely lithium.
Putting lithium into your EV at cost price instead of spot - HAS to be the next step for auto makers.
I think conglomerates and battery JVs will be hunting for low opex, take-over targets. Anyone know one?

Doubt that Lithium is the biggest material cost.With battery costs tipped to fall to $80- $100 per kwh (Tesla rumoured to have it down to $80 with his million mile battery) we are at a tipping point where EV's on all metrics are cheaper than ICE.Covid has really pushed the change and it's coming faster than most people realize.Time to lock in supply is today, the time it takes to build a mine and ramp up production means we have to move now....so yes there is a big hurry.No more tyre kicking lets get this thing moving.....
