During the Cold War the term "Useful Idiots" was often used as a derogatory term to describe people who advance propaganda for a cause, without fully understanding what they are doing. Such people were cynically used by the leaders of the cause, usually Soviet Communists.
In the most literal sense of the term, Useful Idiots are tools.
A glance at the many wiid eyed, slack jawed rioters tearing down statues, desecrating, public and private property and chanting moronic platitudes - during the worst pandemic in a century - suggests that a new generation of Useful Idiots is alive and well, completely unaware of what they are doing.
Meanwhile, President Ji Jinping and his Committee look on approvingly and smile.
