Your dumb justification for Australia having nukes is because the US used one on Japan.
Only trouble with that theory is that Japan didn't have one to retaliate with. Just imagine what they would've done if they did have one ?

Hence, if no one has them, then they can't blow the joint up. Australia developing nukes just gives everyone an excuse to do the same. We already have too many idiots around the world with access to nukes. We should be getting rid of them, not building them.
Not to mention the huge amount of money it would cost and the decades it would take. What happens if someone threatens us in the meantime ?
