Hey OC. With the greatest of respect, I think you need to chill out here a bit. You might be taking some of this stuff a bit too personally.

I don't think anyone here is disrespecting people in the services and what they've experienced. And, it is true that sometimes hindsight and history is the best educator. Particularly for those that weren't involved at the time.
Of course the theoretical view is always going to be different to the physical experience but that doesn't mean it can't be an important part of the conversation.

Those of us that have had the privilege of a safe happy life couldn't possibly imagine what it would be like to have been in the situations you've been in. I'm not even going to pretend I could. Particularly at the age you had to experience it.
I look at young blokes now and think how about the heck we could send them to war and especially not look after them when they got back.

It is something that should be avoided if at all possible imo.

Sincere apologies from me if I've upset you in any way. I reckon you add a different perspective to these threads which is refreshing and of value so I hope you hang around.

For sure, these threads head off on tangents. Sometimes they are deliberately derailed but other times it is just the course of the conversation.

You start talking about one thing and end up talking about something completely different. You know how it goes.

Some people post the most insensitive things deliberately . We know who they are. But there is quite a bit of other stuff that gets taken out of context I reckon. It can be very hard to get your point across some times. I type one thing. Someone else reads it completely differently and away we go.

Anyway. Once again, take care and don't let the forum get too far into your head. It simply isn't worth it. smile.png
