- If you got to the Trading Room site, you will find quite a few majors operating in Egypt, unless you want to split hairs and say a company like AWB (several times the size of SGW) doesn't count. It's harder to do business for a profit in places like China and Iraq, yet any number of stocks have taken off on news of interests in such places. In the general African region (where small scale terrorism is more of an issue), HDR is an example of a company doing so well with its finds that Woodside took a major stake when the stock had already gone up way more than a ten-bagger.
- Maybe SGW could be involved in some way down the track, but there is no public evidence of interest that I know of and no need if the project works out anyway.
- GIP has already started digging ... taking ore from mainly the surface of a big hill, not a hole way down deep. Some pilot plant output was delivered to Australia last year.
- During the fever of 2000, the Congo tragedy saw such ugly outcomes that bans were quickly put in place. The biggest tantalum mine is not located there. By quite a distance, SGW is the world's biggest producer at the moment.
