This policy shift has been mooted in China for some time, particularly since the collapse of BEV sales on reduced subsidies from last June.
In simple terms China has just made hybrids politically correct, and incentivised continued development of far more efficient electrified ICE, more motors less engine.
There is a host of solid rationale behind this development, with the basic objective of cutting vehicle fleet emissions in half by 2030.
What will be interesting is whether EU has the smarts to respond in kind or will it be yet another Western innovation handed off to the Dragon to dominate?
