Cool, how long did it take from planting to get it?
I have two, one with the white flesh and one with red flesh. They have grown a fair bit since planting maybe 1.5 years ago but don't look like they will fruit any time soon
Posted on another thread that I planted French shallots on the weekend, winter solstice. neglected to close the gate to the chicken yard last night and some unearthed a few bulbs, noted that some had already sprouted roots so that is a good sign and put them back in.
Year before last when I first planted them I had mixed results, planted some around now and some in September. Both had good and bad results, I am thinking there was a mix of interstate and local shallots so the interstate one would have been sprayed. Ones I planted last year where from previous years harvest and there was consistency
Last years crop of French shallots I didn't get big ones like the year before, this year I began preparing a patch a while back with blended manure and cultivated it regularly. Apparently you should not add manure just before planting.
I made trenches to plant the bulb in and will level out when the shoots come through, hoping will get bigger shallots
Garlic are doing OK, the ones I got from the supermarket turned out best so must have been locally grown. Garlic cloves I got from bunnings where not that flash but most are looking OK
