Just out of curiosity, are lithium ION batteries with Silicon based anodes in some way superior to those with graphite?
I did a bit of digging into what sort of funding the US. are providing for EV research and across across a DOE research grant from 23 January 2020.
(Link: https://www.energy.gov/eere/articles/doe-announces-133-million-accelerate-advanced-vehicle-technologies-research).
In this grant, they specifically allocate funding for lithium ion batteries using silicon based anodes? is it possible that they previously thought silicon anodes were superior prior to NVX announcing DPMG?
This just sort of makes me wonder why the US. government would provide funding for a product that isn't superior to NVX.
Thoughts anyone?
