Not sure I agree with all this. Those who trade long are betting the price will go up, those who trade short are betting the price will go down. The only difference is in the outlook. Both are betting on the direction of the price. (People who are only in it for the dividend probably want the price to at least stay the same or go up.)
The dodgy people are the uprampers or downrampers.
