We look at a reflection of ourselves and wonder how we got here.
We know we came from mothers. Did our mothers create us or were they vessels in which we were created.
We conclude the latter, but then who created us?
We look at our fathers and think, no way.
Then we think of others and conclude that nobody is capable of creating us.
It must be an extraordinary guy who lives in a special space that we can't see.
The same applied to all that we see around us.
And later we elevated this mystical creator to God status.
I don't think that these are difficult steps to imagine to reach a conclusion that a mystical God is the creator.
This process blinded us to other possibilities because the belief comes with certainty including a certainty that we have the correct God; a position that evolved into something that we need to defend with our lives.
Of course, this led to creating great monuments and artwork dedicated to our created Gods.
It also led to immoral outrages disguised as moral.
It took us to "righteous" wars and to killing each other purely on the grounds of different beliefs.
It led us to create education systems that rely on indoctrination rather than on thinking for ourselves.
It slowed us down to the extent that in spite of the age of enlightenment we are still grovelling in despair and ignorance.
Imagine what might have happened if we took a different path.
Imagine if we took a path that values an education that holds the ability and right to think in high esteem.
I imagine that educated thinkers would never go to war.
I imagine that the world population explosion would not be a problem.
I imagine that we would be far more advanced than we are now and that the incidents of helping each other when in need would be the norm rather than the exception.
OK, I have just woken from my dream.
To hell with reality, I'm going back to sleep.
