A good question and difficult to quantify due to varying soil types across the country. Sandy soils such as found in the Mallee regions & parts of W.A. would require regular rainfall throughout winter & spring to produce a good crop. A crop can be grown on 10 inches of rain as long as it falls at the right times of the year. Loamy soils and clay based soils tend to hold their moisture for longer periods than the sandy stuff. Good crops have been grown when heavy rainfall received in April / May with showery stuff for the rest of the season. (Sow April...Reap November)

Oz farmers are some of the best dry land farmers in the world. Places like Israel have learnt a lot about dry land farming from our farmers.

At the end of the day the more rain we get, the better the crop. Unfortunately we have to be happy with what we receive, hope for the best and plan for the worst. Farming is the biggest gamble one can do. Leaves share trading & Casino's for dead.

Watch Landline on the ABC, Sunday lunchtime. Best show on T.V.

GNC ducked under $4 briefly but now making a base imo. $4 becoming support. As long as the share markets hold their nerve then a target to aim for might be $5. If it rains there will be a lot of water to go under the bridge. smile.png
