Thanks for your opinions Scarpa and for bringing them back to the relevance of EV sales on Altura : ).
At the most basic number level you have Altura - at full nameplate - producing the equivalent of 488,400 as opposed to the more conservative figure of 440,00 EVs that I was basing my thoughts on earlier.......?
So even if half goes elsewhere the off take partners are producing batteries for more than a quarter of a million vehicles? Maybe even up to half a million?
That’s a lot of EVs at either end of the spectrum.
And yes I agree - it is in everyone’s interests for the price of lithium to increase.... which means people need to come out and start buying EVs to drive the market from ‘the top’!
But for the sake of conversation, in the near term - ie 2020 - according to that Australian government update Sjlasx posted just ahead your post, spodumene prices for the rest of this year are expected to stay very low.
So it is lucky Altura has that reserve fund despite its cost.
And hopefully the exploration drilling program you mention will kick off (and succeed) before prices improve?
The report also notes that -potentially driving prices from ‘the bottom’ -there is lots of jockeying to secure supplies etc now underway.
Hopefully some more of that will come Altura’s way as well!
Cheers
Hello Sjlasx and thank your for posting this excellent and up to date resource!
But you forgot to include a link!
I went and found it myself (as apparently even saying please comes across as too demanding for some).
This seems to me to be - so far - the most relevant and complete information that has been on this thread.
For anyone who thinks it‘s just boring government data it is not -it includes an excellent summary of the sector including the recent European grants and more.
Interestingly its starting point for EV sales is TWO MILLION (in 2020)
- which means Altura - theoretically- could be providing SC6 for up to almost 25% of all EVs sold?
Cheers
