The mortality rate is only part of the result picture - I remember when this whole thing started they were saying death rate is 20%, but when you looked at the numbers, that was because say 1000 people were positive and hospitalized, only 80 had been discharged and 20 had died. The 20% death rate was because 900 were not dead but not yet released from hospital either and not included in the statistics - and that is a bigger concern because overwhelming the hospitals is linked to increasing the death rate and that was probably occurring when the initial EAP was launched.

It's likely / everyone is hoping that an interim look at the data will reveal the death rate is reduced, the hospitalization stay time is reduced and the general " health and fitness" level of the released is higher. Positive results in any of those 3 categories will be a good result.
