I agree with you to a point, Lap.

Investing that money in building our own weapon systems would be the better option.
Some will say we don’t have the expertise but how do we know if we don’t try?
The money stays in our system, adds jobs, increases our knowledge base and the bonus is that any aggressor has to spend time on working out another system or 3-5?

Smaller autonomous systems seem to be the new age way to go, after all if we take the humans out of the equation we reduce weight, running costs and the platforms can be smaller.
These platforms can be airborne, aquatic or land based.

Time and again we have seen countries over spend on the best of the day weapons only to realise that when it comes to a rumble their big spends are obsolete.
The Dreadnoughts seemed a great idea until the cheap submarine kicked their bottoms.
Then again if we look at the Bismarck, it was done over by obsolete aircraft.
They couldn’t hit the slow old crappy planes the British had because they thought they would come up against the best of the best aircraft.

I’m not upset with our Government spending money but I would like to see them spend it wisely and in a way that will benefit our economy at the same time.

The down side is, do we have the time?
I would like to hope so?
