No worries, actually reading the table again it says monzonite and diorite.Diorite is extremely hard so I’m thinking now it doesn’t fracture or brecciate well here which is what you need for the porphyry system to work properly in this neutral zone. Porphory systems are like a giant engine , pumping and circulating the fluids where they can then precipitate due to reasons like cooling and geo chemical reactions with host rocks. No spaces in the rock means no places for circulation ( like boiling a soup down to make a sauce) and mineralization I guess.
This is my take home message. My take on this is that John is saying well established rich skarns only develop with large fluid movement and it’s big porphyry engines that drive them. They can’t with small porphyrys. That’s why he’s emphasised it with the term very importantly. And here we have skarns down to EOH.
