I bought an electric jug 2 years ago and it did fail recently. It cost $15.
I bought a new one for $17 at K mart. Less than one hours wages.

China's cheap products have been good for millions of Australians.
If you are worried about quality take out the extended store warranty.
I remember televisions made in Australia.
They were crap to what we can buy now for $100.
Televisions were 8 weeks wages back in the 70's
