Anybody thinking that APT is going to be able to launch an on-the-ground product in China is delusional - and before you all cry 'shorter! shorter!' I was an APT from way back and big BNPL bull. The link would be for Tencent/APT to integrate APT functionality into WeChat to enable a Chinese customer travelling in say the US to use APT to buy stuff via WeChat, or some mash up. The idea that a near 1 trillion company, that will own maybe 7-10% of APT would bring them into China and enable that immense value to be captured by the holders of the 90% of the stock they don't own is ludicrous. It's far more likely they want a value-add for their WeChat users.
Also don't be under any illusion that Tencent are not putting the screws on Molnar/Eisen for access to their US consumer data, much of which will probably be stored and analysed in Beijing. Given the current geopolitical climate, being all 'buddy buddy' with a Chinese giant that will undoubtedly have links to the CCP could have significant problems for APT going forward.
