Elon has said recently that "carbon silicon anode works great". For now, Tesla will still be working within the existing paradigm and it is extremely unlikely they will be planning Twh factories based on untested new patent technology that only lasts less than 100 cycles.

Elon has been planning the Twh production number for probably several years. And it appears they are going to use the acquired Maxwell technology and Dahn's chemistry improvements to bring the cost down, improve scalability and cell longevity. My guess is they have a million mile battery ready to go that is based on existing technology but is easier and cheaper to produce. The primary metrics being longevity and cost. The energy density will also improve but not so much. Just my opinion.

But then again is this "mind blowing technology"? There must be something more.
