    Scott,
. I understand your empathy for their plight but offering a treaty to a bunch of undefinable peoples is a recipe for disaster for all of us. I haven’t or heard one single person provide a clear definition of the proposed change to the Australian constitution to recognise Aboriginal peoples and I read the statement from the heart numerous times and it’s a motherhood statement written by the lawyers no doubt about it.
if we as Australians start to divide ourselves into the dominant culture through our legislation then I will not be supporting it in any way shape or form. Our society does have its problems both in the past, now and into the future but by trying to right the wrongs of the past by state driven means will only lead to more injustices for whatever race or pre determined line you want to put in place. Humans are not definable by race, colour or creed that is why we are one species even with all the stupidity but to offer a recognition to the constitution or a treaty to a bunch of peoples who are vastly different from the original Aboriginal reeks of historical guilt.
And yes I feel we need to progress Aboriginal welfare in other ways but not through treaties or changing our constitution to suit 3% of the population when as peoples they will be further diluted by cross pollination throughout the next 250 years. These things are not definable and therefore impractical in implementation. Is that not apparent to you??
