Bagman, what's both funny and sad in these situations is that those who have slagged off in a big way for a long time about a company, saying it has no hope and all that, often buy in just before it goes belly up. Most of the others miss the rebound and have a real cognitive dissonance experience. The best and most recent example which comes to mind is the very popular big K on the other big bulletin board in Oz (starts with "S"), who spent 18 months talking the wider market down and after finally buying, quickly got the tail between his legs chopped off by the market quick smart. This generally happens because it's hard to think sensibly when one has been emotively laying into something and is full of oneself as predictions or whatever appear to have come true ... and then wants to reverse their position (in case anyone thinks I'll have a problem selling GIP if and when it gets noticed properly, I decided years ago what the exit conditions would be (one main one) and one other poster here was informed and wishes they'd sold a certain other stock when the trigger arose. Anyway, since 2003, all the main detractors of GIP have bought the stock and supported it at some point (if their posts can be believed). Most have been burnt. I hold and await verifiable evidence that I shouldn't. Not once has it been provided.
