Yes I do read english history, and there are some pretty dodgy monarchs too.

I understand what you are trying to say, but i disagree.
The governor general is a throw back to british colonial rule.
They are an extension of the monarchies powers to places where the monarch could not govern directly.
It served its purpose in history but has gone past its used by date.
