Qantas and Virgin are effectively power structures that extract funds from taxpayers and customers for special interests especially the likes of executives like Joyce with next to no competition. In this current day an age with improved technology and platforms why is there not far more competition to give more opportunity for pilots, crew and other people in the airline industry abroad. Why can check out staff not work for Virgin and Qantas if they get incensed to do so?? I look at Qantas and Virgin?? What are they?? They get the planes from Boeing or Airbus or some other supplier, they get their fuel from overseas. Supposedly they have thousands of staff under them that have nothing to do with their brand because they should have the same standards and level of service on the same planes. Qantas and Virgin are nothing more than a refurbished plane, a paint job with signage and specific routes they choose apart from a few temporary contracts they might get including from interfering governments. So why have all the staff?? Why do most of the staff in the airline industry not work for themselves, be governed by CASA and Air Services Australia and other bodies in terms of standards and protocols, work for different airlines creating innovation, more flexibility, better value and service for customers. Why does Qantas and Virgin carry the unnecessary overhead when it can be replaced by suitable platforms regulated by government on behalf of taxpayers and customers?? Why do pilots, crew staff, check out staff, engineers not get job keeper as competitive sole traders where the market sustains them instead of employees?? CASA and Air Services Australia can always allocate work to ensure engineers, pilots and others maintain standards

Therefore, would the government be better ignoring the airlines and offer work through CASA Air Services Australia and platforms where operators including pilots, engineers, maintenance staff, check in staff can bid for work as activity increases on behalf of the Airlines if most of the staff on airlines represent a false uncompetitive business model that is unsustainable anyway?
