Work offered through CASA and Air Services Australia could be offered on a price per unit thus enabling a price mechanism and flexibility for the most effective use of resources with various fail safes.

So some pilots and engineers will need work if in their interest to maintain standards and accreditation while some will want a flight back after leaving home. Some pilots will want to work with certain other pilots they trust which is fair enough and some pilots will need to be more senior and so forth. The training of pilots and other occupations such as maintenance do not need to fall under the responsibility of airlines either. Training can be a separate business governed by bodies such as CASA. Defence force is another opportunity for training where compliant.

This should mean cheaper flight, more flights and therefore more demand.

So I can see benefits in government ignoring the airlines for support when really going forward they are likely to be unsustainable in the current uncompetitive business model format
