Once the network framework gets stripped, and thew power structure and barriers to entry this provides is removed, for each airline far more transparency and agility is enabled in the markets to compete.
A airline like Qantas would be more about route management, software management like for check-ins and work needs and refurbishing planes. This would make this area a lot more competitive as a result further dropping prices and enabling more to fly.
It increases competition because the transparency sends better price signals about what works for passengers in terms of routes, software and plane design providing better value longer term.
As such support for the airlines under the current business models would be akin to government shooting itself and taxpayers in the foot as well as voters!!
