You still need to own a Visa card to use that product, meaning you need to apply and get approved etc. it seems a sizeable portion of Afterpays’s customer base has never owned a credit card, and maybe they never will. I’m not an expert in the financial industry but I think it’s possible that Visa and MasterCard are having their lunch eaten right now and reacted too late.
