"people here want us to think they're just a big fluffy country who just want peace with the rest of the world,"

I'm sure you want peace too, for yourself, your family and your country.
I'm also sure that if you, your family, your children were seriously threatened, you would do something about it....to either prevent it, to protect yourselves, or even to retaliate.

But, as was the case for centuries, Jews when threatened or attacked were expected to accept their lot, and possibly move to where they though they might be safer. And even today, the same expectation applies to Israel, and it galls you that Israel and Israelis (as Golda Meir said) will not be messed with if threatened or attacked....and Israel has been continuously threatened or attacked since 1948.

Yet you would not criticise any other country for defending itself and its people when threatened or attacked.

So how about you think about judging Israel and Israelis by the same standards that other countries and peoples are judged.
