I think many on HC over look the reason behine the baby bonus. It was not a form of welfare it was a form of populate or perish.
Many thru the 60 & 70's got nothing and the fertility rate suffered accordingly. With an ageing population Australia needs to replenish to replace the workforce as the baby boomers move out of it.
If Australia does not populate it will perish. Therefore i believe it should not be looked at as welfare but an incentive.
Saying that I never got a cent to have kids nor the deed as well!!! Half your luck if you did. $5000, your all nothing but prostitutes. LOL
