Not so - when fuel priced as it is in the US, it is very much an incidental cost of motoring. In an oversized world, the consumer wants the biggest and Detroit obliges. These tiny trucks are crap when compared to their own European creations and many of their competitors offerings. Suddenly the public is value aware and cost concious and Detroit is tooled up for the wrong products - direct consequence of ultra cheap fuel. Bail out is morally justifiable and s/be funded by realistic fuel taxes.
