you came to mind for me yesterday afternoon
I was heading down to Paris from Chateau Thierry - about ?? a bit over 100 km by water - and, early in the day - I was seeing actually more places to stop
then, all of a sudden - they seemed to dry up
and, I thought - hmmmm - what's going on here - and, just after I told cara that there were places everywhere
so, about 3 ish - I was about to hit a 'halte nautical' - which, generally are ok - and, bugger me ------- every slot was taken
hmmmmmm - so, I thought - I hope I don't have to do what I told cara that you can never get caught out and do - and, that's head and you will get stopped at the next lock
anyway - I had at least 5 hours of daylight left - so, I wasn't too bothered because if I had to sprint - i could make it to paris in about 8 hours easy
but, I would get stopped when the locks shutdown at 1800 -- anyway - I got to the next halte nautical and it was empty ------ it's the one I described with the hottie and her partner
it's actually a good spot ------------- but, it IS susceptible to wash - I only had one barge go past in the river - but, it sure sent the waves in
the big difference is ---------- this is a floating pontoon - and, it's ok
if it were a fixed wharf - it would be very dangerous and I would be hurled against the thing with large bangs - that happened once --------- don't want to ever have that again.
When Emma and I were talking about Paris yesterday - I was saying that I never wanted to do it - not being a city person - but, it really was the one chance in a lifetime - atm
She said that paris is very quiet - no tourists and a lot of people have gone to the country - so, this is the year to go for it.
CV19 is giving me an amazing look at the place - but, going to Paris brings it's risk - if the virus comes back and they lockdown -then, I'm stuck there - if perchance it went on for a long time - well? that would be different ---------- surviving in Calais in a lockdown is a different ballgame I suspect
hence, my scoping trip
