Frauds such as Opes prime will always occur; the world is not perfect. Look at the Madoff scandal in the US. How on earth could that go undetected for as long as it did...answer is that thieves are clever.

The issue is not that OP happened; the issue is once it was detected, look what happened, and look at the lack of action by ASIC. ASIC is the issue now. They are the ones with the power to rectify this. This situation is so bad it should not be left to the lawyers and court system to sort out. It will take years in the ordinary course of process to bring Justice to bear, even though there has been an amazingly brazen theft of our assets. We will have died on the vine in the meantime. ASIC needs to come in over the top and sort this mess out. If ASIC is happy to sit back and let the private lawyers do their work for them, then get ready for 2 to 3 years of not much, apart from incredibly frustrating legal process. This is exactly what the Bank is hoping for. They are sitting back and laughing at us right now, having swanky Christmas parties in Toorak, and reliving Goode's words..."stuff them"!
