re: h ...the oil tycoon who is a greenie...i think What are the alternatives to being an oil polluting freak?
Solar energy can only fill a small amount of the energy market unless there is an economic means of storing the energy and I think that acres of solar panels will be unacceptably ugly.
Wind power has the same problem and arrays of windmills on otherwise lovely coastal areas is again unacceptably ugly.
All the other "green" alternatives are not viable in the large scale required.
Nuclear is probably the cleanest alternative except in the event of accidents and how do we store/get rid of the spent nuclear rods afterwards?
It really only leaves gas and oil as the only economically viable alternatives. A "rational" greenie, which Hardmano possibly is (a rare breed indeed), would realise the fact, throw their hands in the air and say "might as well take the profits from the devil they know".
An "economicly rational" greenie (an even rarer breed) would probably accept that civilisation as we know it would crumble without petroleum and might argue that at least the petroleum industry can be taxed to provide sufficient funding to research viable energy alternative.
