Lessons to be learned here, most people go to the financial planner because they don't know what to do, they don't know about economic cycles, perhaps they have been burnt before doing it themselves(buying high and selling low). So they go to the financial planner, the professional who has their best interest at heart (or their fee), everything smells like roses in the good times. Then a year like has just passed happens and they discover that the professional who was great in the good times has about as much idea as they do.

Go figure.
