    If long-term health is the consideration, which is what some people are now increasingly saying it is [*], then - apart from the fact that "pandemic" sounds worse than "smoking" or "obesity" or "diabetes" - why not?

    What is the difference?
    Is the compromising of quality of life due to stress or diabetes not the same as that due to this particular virus?

    [*] And I notice, now that the mortality rate is not nearly what the wide array of "experts" were, at the outset of this pandemic, predicting it would be, the narrative is clearly shifting to the making of prognostications about long-term health effects.
