I don't think ancient scriptures are nullified if we discover sentient life on other worlds.
I suspect that this depends on what "sentient life" is discovered. For those who believe that human life as described in the ancient texts is the pinnacle of their God's creation the discovery of life that is more advanced and intelligent than humans may throw the kitty-cat among the pigeons.
