I really enjoyed that post and I very much agree with you. I was playing the devils advocate.
My point was, if you acheive much in life, or very little, it is still precious to somebody, but at the individual level, if one has studied hard, acheived much, been dearly loved, then you die and absolutely nothing of you remains, for you, not the memories of other, then the sum total of your life is zero.
I'm sorry, but that is a hard truth. The sum of your life may echo in the lives and memories of others, but if you are extinguished, then your life led to zero.
Now if that's the case, so be it for me. However I undrtstand why we must continue to delude ourselves or our sentience would lead to our extinction, or rampant hedonism.
I don't think we end at death and I think everybody ends up in the same place and our progress towards some unattainable goal continues, but it continues with the spiritual limbs we have developed in this physical life. I see this as a womb world.
I think life is full of purpose and meaning.
