Not a fan of the directors rewarding themselves either. Isn't adding value part of their job description? Would a scientist expect a bonus if he/she could replicate their experimental data continously, resulting in significant results, a journal being published and thereby enhancing the reputation of everyone on that journal ? Should an accountant receive a bonus if he/she could turn a potential tax obligation into a tax return for a client? Should a doctor receive a bonus for every life he/she saves and/or improves?
Always makes me laugh. If they don't add value, how come they don't get deductions from their base salary?? That would be funny! I find it especially annoying with banks where the CEO who is already on a million+ salary gets bonuses every time the bank does well! Isn't the high salary enough of an incentive for adding value already?
