not sure the visa contract is actually dead yet which is why it is interesting..... 2 companies have a contract for service but one, or both, have walked away from the service without a clear explanation of the contract breach that allowed that to occur back in march. anyhoo ......
if it was competition that EU wanted then LESS users of visa would produce more competition, not more punters using visa (about 1/6 of the euros spent in europe go thru visa, and about 1/2 of US credit volume goes thru visa).
i thought visa were holistically making changes so that visa had less exposure/liability from money laundering events (they want to be able to sorta see where the money is coming from as it passes thru visa and where it is going to). that seems proactive to me, by visa, to get away from money laundering problems that some wallet providers make for them.
hard to argue against a company that wants to get away from money laundering.
