Regarding 80Less
HCT has an agreement with Rex Industry Berhad to supply 80Less for a range of at least eight low-sugar beverage drinks that the Malaysia Bursa-listed drinks manufacturer is developing for Malaysia and Singapore markets.
This also mentioned in the 2019 annual report page 3 in which they state that there is an expression of interest from 6 others companies.
From which we can speculate that some of these companies might be in North America.
1. One of these companies we know already and is a Taiwan Malaysia joint venture: The Fruit Hub@Lanchang.
2. Apparently HCT has had some interest from the Starbucks Coffee Company for 80Less. I'm not sure if Starbucks will be supplied by Rex Industry regarding the sugar tax in several countries in SouthEast Asia, or if Starbucks is one of the 6 interested companies. Anyway, I found this image in one of the presentations form one of Chan Heng Fai's companies. This presentation was produced in early 2015, so it is a bit outdated but it seems that Starbucks and Litefoods are doing R&D together.
