I know they report it as low but it’s definition and calculation is a crock personally it pisses me off how fast prices have been rising around here coffee is 5 dollars now from 3 , cup is smaller and there are tap charges Tolls on all the roads around here have more than doubled Health insurance upski and less benefits They charge 9-10 bucks a beer plus tap charges now- Flights were up big since- bit since pandemic up more Taxi costs here are nuts Hotel charges huge Groceries up and shrinkflation everywhere Courier fees up 100 percent easy in a decade Postage up Mobile phones - up 2 2k Rates , parking metres - school fees Public transport - shsssh Hired a sparky or plumber? - shssh brain surgeon rates Home delivered food - wtf- annoys me ok so they take out fuel oil and anything else in the basket to suit the lost of prices going up big in my world is long- ok some tvs came down but it is still possible to pay 6 k for a fridge or 20 k for a tv hyudais down for some apparently to 1994 prices but cars in the main way more expensive - some lossy Benz is 90 k- had a mate show me a ute quote no tray and it was 89 k everything up - been annnoying me for years but maybe I’m the only one- personally I think real inflation has been skyrocketing for years more amazing is USA- 2 percent core inflation target- was over it for 9 months out of last 12 ( I posted it for you before) fed said - no inflation- nothing wrong and Then cut rates rates - real rates when you deduct real inflation- transaction fees, account fees and fact the majority receive no interest whatsoever on there transaction accounts is much worse than reported imo

Yes, it’s a scam how they calculate inflation. A big factor is that if a product improved through technology, then you are taken to have more purchasing power. Eg. if a computer is double the speed but double the price, then in the eyes of inflation it hasn’t gone up (even if the cheaper inferior model is no longer available).
