You really need to get over the fact you made a wrong post and got corrected cougar instead of waffling on trying to side track the issue.
The previous government did not reduce taxes either. They cut income tax and introduced a GST which about cancelled each other out. Also as it was boom times and peoples incomes were rising the actual amount of income tax they paid remained about the same even though the tax rate was reduced. Only the percentage was actually reduced.
Therefore the governments tax take overall actually rose, check the budget papers and see the record revenue being collected.

Now the world economic tide has turned and all states, including the Liberal state of WA, are forecasting deficits. So it looks like they are all alike to me with the possible exception of NSW which has been poorly managed recently and has major problems.
