Have to agree with you Oakie, one of the papers this morning headlined "AGL set to swallow ailing Sydney Gas". The first paragraph then went to call Sydney Gas "troubled explorer", further on the reporter mentions.."the offer may also signal the final chapter on the chequered history of Sydney Gas, which was long regarded as a basket case after numerous manangement bungles". Wow thats pretty blunt. On reading this I thought how much better a company ESG is and what a catch it will be to the hungry majors in a short time.
I reckon the majority of Sydney Gas shareholders may count themselves lucky in getting this price which Oakie points out is almost three times the value of the company early in Dec.
