Latham's brain fart was indeed directed at certain ethnic groups. It seems you agree then that it was a dumb thing to say.

I'm with you on accountability. We need to understand what didn't work but also what did. However, we need to wait for the outcome of the enquiry imo.
I still think Andrews and Co are doing a good job of managing this crisis. That doesn't mean they haven't made mistakes but that will come out in the wash. The idiots calling for a change of leadership mid crisis are just political trolls trying to gain traction.
Changing the leadership now would be one of the dumbest things one could do.

Yes, enquiries may not get down to one person for various reasons but that doesn't mean they aren't useful.

Were poor decisions made ? Is the policy lacking in the first place ? Are their communication issues with the chain of command ? And so on.

Don't forget that whatever planning was in place previously, it had never been tested. I would say we were grossly under prepared. That's not anyone's fault necessarily. How many pandemics have we had like this ?

As we've seen with the bushfires, it takes a tragedy to galvanise a suitable response. Post black Saturday there was quite a bit done in establishing better emergency response personnel, equipment and policy. Now, after the 2019/20 fires , that will be taken up another notch and become a joint federal/state deal I imagine.

Morrison has commented how productive the new National Cabinet has been. This is a good example of the change from the old to the new.

Hopefully we will get more of the same out of the Covid enquiry.
