Welcome Jaygreen1 - good timing. The Company has sponsored research notes on the internet - Pitt St Research or something like that - especially around times that the economics of the project changed significantly - like when they cut CAPEX to around $US500m about 18 months ago - just keep googling those key terms and dates.
To my layman's eye - the assumptions and inputs I could understand were sensible.
The potential IRR in the PFS update BEFORE the CAPEX was cut by about 40% was in the 40's.
!?!
Then consider whether REE prices and demand are supportive. Adamas Intelligence and Roskild do lots of industry stuff that gets quoted back by GGG and other hopefuls. Lynas generally outlines REE market conditions in their quarterly investor presentations.
What's the probability the project actually gets permitted - HC boards go into this in detail - read all NRO's posts as he's done heaps of work - and I trust him.
For the project actually being executed - see Dr Mair's experience in Arctic environments and their Engineering partners - noting this is a new jurisdiction, remote, environmentally harsh and logistically challenging.
For the ability to extract, process, refine and market profitably - many here (as investors) experienced the teething problems of Lynas (LYC) and Molycorp - which you may wish to read into, but before you run away, consider what role Shenghe has played in the last 3 years with GGG as Mountain Pass and proposes to play in the future.
The geopolitical stuff is endlessly debated on these forums - I find it mostly short term noise and Trump style fake news - that is until it actually kicks off - like when it lit up the sector in 2011...
Finally - the general neglect and starvation of capital for resource small caps over the last 5 years - is IMHO the reason this stock has been such a gift till now. The last two weeks has given a taste of what happens when a Buyer just needs to get in (currently this is an unknown retail stock and is investable to a handful of small cap active managers only) then think about passive Index followers and ETFs that need to Buy into a tightly held stock - they are not price sensitive and bid relentlessly until filled.
