Had the directors taken up more, I bet people here would have deemed them to be greedy and said they should've left more of the SPP for retailers!
The price today, as witchdoc said, is probably a result of the underlying gold price dropping overnight and shares becoming available to sell. Honestly, those options are so valuable in the event of the company hitting gold I can understand the reason for just holding options and selling heads to reduce exposure/risk.
